Community Garden Day
April 28, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Did you know the Bagnall has a School Garden? A few years ago, we had a beautiful space full of flowers, fruit and vegetables that was a wonderful outdoor learning resource for the students. The pandemic caused it to go out of use, but we are bringing it back! Looking for parents, staff, and community members who have some expertise or can pitch in.
Join us to help:
-Dig out 50 small saplings, and cut them into 3’ sections to build our pollinator wood pile
-Break down 5 wooden compost bins, spread the soil out to make space for new bins to be built
-Remove trash and debris from the shed and garden area. Put to the side any tools that are in good condition!
-Remove larger weeds
-Haul away all the inorganic debris and rotten wood planks

Bring yourself, your gloves and a shovel if you have them (we will have extra gloves and shovels on hand). If anyone has larger equipment that would be useful, or a good way to haul the debris, please contact Stephanie.sieling@gmail.com.
If you have any of the following skill sets, we’d love your help and guidance for planning and future work days:
-Carpenters/builders to advise on which wooden structures (fences, raised garden beds) can be repaired and what must be rebuilt, and who can replace a few missing shingles on our shed roof. This work will be done at a future date.
-Landscapers/gardeners who can give practical advice on how to do further clearing or design
-Anyone with specialty knowledge about sustainable practices! The new garden will be an organic one, with native pollinator plants to support our local bugs, butterflies and birds. Any guidance or creative ideas on this would be welcomed!
-Gardeners to help guide our choices for our edible garden or our native pollinator plants
